Speak Out and Stand Up

Traditional, family values are under attack. Are we going to stand up and support those who are fighting to protect marriage between a man and a woman? Do we support, with our time and our dollars, those who speak out for the traditional family?

Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day was yesterday. The Chick-fil-A President, Dan Cathy, is under attack for his stance in support of marriage between a man and a woman. The nation stood up for the freedom of speech and in support of this sacred union by flocking to the country's Chick-fil-A restaurants. As a family, we joined in.

Typically, spending 45 minutes in the drive-thru line would be an annoyance. In fact, I normally would not even last that long. However, it was a drive-thru joy yesterday as we watched hundreds of people showing support at our local Chick-fil-A restaurant. We observed cars winding back and forth in the parking lot and finally out to the street, waiting to go through the drive-thru. The physical line of patrons for inside dining made its way out the door, down the sidewalk, and into the parking lot. Supporters were not deterred by the long lines or the long wait. It was inspirational. It was amazing.

We made it a point to go to Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day to teach our children about the Freedom of Speech.

The Founders of our Nation worked and sacrificed tirelessly to provide us The First Amendment to the US Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

It's dangerous when we have government officials wanting to boycott private companies from their cities because of their Christian beliefs. Why can't Dan Cathy and Chick-fil-A speak out and stand up for what they believe in? Isn't this the ultimate intolerance?

We went to Chick-fil-A to teach our children that we CAN participate and make a difference. We CAN be a force for GOOD in standing up for morality. Many think they cannot do anything in this ever-declining environment. But there are little things that can be done that make a BIG difference to protect our rights, to defend the family, and to support those who are not afraid to stand up.

Standing (or sitting) for Chick-fil-A

Cheers to Chick-fil-A!
Thanks, Dan Cathy, for setting an example for America's rising generation. May our children have the courage to stand up and speak out for what they believe in, too.

More to Come...but until then, Stick-to-it!
